Doctor Doctor

The panda AE86 normally tearing down Mt. Akina at 5am was going astoundingly slow on this clear summer morning. In fact, it was going under the speed limit! The driver, one 18 year old Fujiwara Takumi, was a little preoccupied. He was thinking about all that had happened on this winding road over the course of just one year. As he drove, Takumi reflected on all the past events, slowing as he passed each landmark on the downhill road.

There was where he had passed Takahashi Keisuke's yellow FD…

There was where Shouji Shingo tried to run him off the road, but ended up crashing into the guard rail himself… Takumi smiled a little at the memory.

~ Served him right ~ he thought as he stared at the dent left in the rail. If he squinted, he suspected that he could see a hint of red paint along those scratches.

There…and Takumi was forced to chuckle… There was where Nakazato Takeshi had fallen for the oldest fake-out in the proverbial book.

There was where he had passed that stupid Iwaki Seiji in his "oh-so-super" Evo IV.

Suddenly, Takumi's mind stilled, completely focused on one thing.

There… There was where the AE86 had passed a certain RX-7. Takumi could almost see the white FC next to him as he passed it, making the Mazda look like it was standing still. Closing his eyes, for a moment, Takumi savoured the memory of the FC's driver, Takahashi Ryousuke. "Tall, dark and handsome" were adjectives that just jumped voluntarily to the forefront of Takumi's mind.

~Kakko ii… He really *is* good looking. Everytime I see him, I can't get him out of my mind for days…~

Takumi's brows drew together, wrinkling his forehead, so deep in thought was he.

"I wonder which university Ryousuke goes to…" Takumi mused out loud.

~After all, it's high time I got *my* university applications in…~

Takumi leaned his head back, thinking about the RedSuns' team leader.

"Oh!" he sat up rapidly. "Since when did I start thinking of him as just *Ryousuke*???" he asked himself, panicked. "I mean we're not even that close… um… not really… I don't think… not a first name basis, anyway…" Takumi was rambling to himself now. "I wonder if he thinks of me as 'Takumi'? Or is it just 'Fujiwara'?"

He looked down and blushed a little. "I wonder…" Takumi paused and blushed some more. "Ryoupon," he whispered, still blushing, but with a little secretive smile.

Unfortunately, while Takumi was an excellent driver, capable of fantastic feats at amazing speeds, he was apparently unable to navigate a curve at 30 km/h with his eyes half-closed, daydreaming. Which was how Mr. Toyota met Mr. Tree for the very first time.

"Hajimemashite," said Mr. Tree.

"Ita~~i…" said Mr. Toyota.

Takumi was thrown forward hard enough for him to whack his head on the steering wheel. For a minute, the 18 year old boy just sat there, completely stunned. When his senses returned to him, he straightened up to look at the hood of his car. There was a nasty dent, but no smoke, so that was a good sign.

~Maybe everything's okay and I can just drive home…~

He had noticed that his car was no longer running, so he cautiously turned the key in the ignition. There was a little sputtering, a lot of coughing, but the engine just wouldn't turn over.

~Or maybe not…~ he sighed internally.

Rubbing his sore forehead, Takumi reached over to the passenger seat for his cell phone. [1]

~*~*~*~

Twenty minutes later found the tofu delivery boy sitting on a hospital bed in the emergency room of a nearby hospital blushing and staring at his hands, folded demurely in his lap. He had just called his father, and while Bunta hadn't done anything but grunt over the phone, Takumi still dreaded the upcoming meeting.

"Fujiwara? You *do* know that 'I could drive this road with my eyes closed' is just a saying, right?"

Takumi blinked, startled out of his embarrassed self-contemplation by a familiar voice. "Aa?"

Takahashi Ryousuke chuckled and shook his head. "I read the accident report," he pinned Takumi with a mock accusatory glare.

"Aa," was Takumi's response.

"You had already passed the 5 hairpin corners," Ryousuke was relentless.

"Aa…" Takumi gestured helplessly.

Struggling not to dissolve into a fit of giggles, Ryousuke read off the chart in his hand. "Cause of accident: I wasn't looking at the tree…?"

"Aa… If I had been looking at the tree, I would have seen it, and then I would have been able to avoid it," Takumi pointed out with his impeccable logic.

Ryousuke hid behind his clipboard, eyes sparkling with barely suppressed mirth. The doctor standing next to him turned to look at him questioningly, his expression one of both extreme worry, and extreme disbelief.

"Oh, he's fine. He's always like this," Ryousuke explained.

"Sou ka?" the doctor looked closely at his space-y patient. "You know this for a fact? It's not a concussion or something?"

Ryousuke tried, unsuccessfully, to hide a grin. "Yeah… This is normal for him," he gestured at Takumi with a vague hand motion.

"Okay," the doctor accepted Ryousuke's evaluation at face value. "Since you seem to know more about the boy than I do, I'll leave him to you. Just do the normal post-accident check up then. You know the procedure; it shouldn't take too long. Please join up with the rest of the group in 15 minutes. We'll still be somewhere in Emergency."

Ryousuke nodded his acceptance of this new assignment, moving closer to Takumi. The doctor, and a group of young men and women that Takumi hadn't noticed until now, walked over to another bed that had been curtained off. This left the blushing Fujiwara with a smirking Takahashi.

"Aa… Ryousuke…" Takumi started. His eyes widened comically. "San!" he blurted out, for lack of an honourific. "What are you doing here?"

Ryousuke coughed, trying to cover his amusement. "I'm doing my residency here. My father wanted me to get some 'away' experience." He asked, leaning in to check Takumi's pupils. "By the way, Fujiwara, what really happened?"

~"Fujiwara"… again… I guess he *doesn't* think of me by first name…~ and for some reason, Takumi was depressed by this thought.

"Oi! Takumi!" Ryousuke waved his hand in front of Takumi's face, worried at the lack of response to either audio or visual stimuli. "Hmm… Maybe you *do* have a concussion…"

"Huh?" Takumi jerked back to awareness, strangely elated by the use of his first name. "Nonono… I'm fine!" he asserted rather loudly.

Ryousuke smiled, holding his hands up in surrender. "Okay, okay. I believe you. I'm just going do a few tests and ask you to go through some simple actions. Then you can go home."

Takumi nodded, blushing.

"Turn your head to the left… To the right… Now look up… and down…" Ryousuke intoned mindlessly. "Anything hurt? No? Good. Now lie down."

Takumi did as commanded; face burning. He was both embarrassed at the fact that Ryousuke was treating him like a silly little patient, and at the fact that he was oddly happy just to be so close to tall, handsome young man.

Said young man was now leaning over his patient's torso. "Let me know if anything I do hurts, okay?" he smiled reassuringly at Takumi.

Takumi nodded again.

A few seconds later, the exam was done. Takumi sat back up, not really daring to meet Ryousuke's eyes.

"Hmm… looks normal… just some bruising from your seat belt (good thing you were wearing it), but that's about it," Ryousuke made some marks on his clipboard, then looked up, smiling. The boy looked so wretched sitting there, face flushed, wringing his hands. It was quite endearing.

"Oh wait, one more thing. Walk from here to that bed over there," Ryousuke pointed.

Takumi complied. Ryousuke… admired the view…

"Okay, come back, but walk on the balls of your feet."

Takumi complied once more. Still unaware of Ryousuke's more than clinical interest in his anatomy.

"Hey, Takumi? You seem rather flushed. Are you okay?" Ryousuke took the boy's hand and drew him closer, pushing him back and almost lifting him onto the hospital bed. "Do you have a fever?" He placed his hand on Takumi's forehead, feeling for a temperature.

Takumi shook his head 'no' but couldn't help blushing even more at the feel of Ryousuke's hand on his face.

Ryousuke carefully took note of this. Some part of him was starting to suspect…

"Hmm… You don't feel too warm," Ryousuke slid his hand down to cup Takumi's cheek. "But your breathing seems a little erratic…" Ryousuke leaned even closer, eyes fixed on Takumi's parted lips.

Takumi's heart was pounding. And yes, he really was short of breath. Takahashi Ryousuke wasn't just "good looking;" he was downright *gorgeous* from this angle. Takumi's breath quickened as he noticed those amazing lips, so close to his own.

"Oi! Takahashi! Your 15 minutes are up!" a deep male voice cut through the tension building between the two drivers.

Ryousuke straightened and flashed the doctor a quick smile. "Yes, sir! I'm just finishing up here!"

"Okay, hurry up!" the doctor tossed his reply over his shoulder as he walked away.

Ryousuke turned back to Takumi with a rueful smile. "Gotta run. You're fine, by the way. Take the day off school; go home and rest."

Takumi nodded.

Suddenly a nurse popped by. "Hey! Fujiwara? Your pants have been washed and dried," she declared, tossing the garment at the stunned boy on the bed.

If Takumi could have turned a brighter shade of red, he would have been a tomato. As it was, Ryousuke thought he looked like he'd popped every blood vessel in his face.

Takumi quickly grabbed the offending article of clothing, jerking it on roughly. He couldn't believe he hadn't noticed that he wasn't wearing any pants the entire time. Ryousuke couldn't help grinning. *He* couldn't believe that he hadn't noticed Takumi was pant-less this whole time. Although, now that he thought about it, it *could* explain the sudden physical attraction…

"Don't worry hon', it's common for this to happen to car accident victims. You're scared…" the nurse shrugged. "It happens. Don't look so embarrassed!"

Takumi thought he was going to die. "I had a cup of water in the cup holder!! It spilled when I hit the tree!!!" he practically screamed.

Ryousuke's grin widened. Then, on impulse, he swooped down, capturing Takumi's mouth in a sweet kiss.

Pulling back, Ryousuke tousled Takumi's hair. "You look so adorable, I couldn't help myself. You okay?"

Takumi nodded mutely.

Then he tugged on Ryousuke's sleeve.

"Hmm?" Ryousuke looked worriedly at the blushing boy.

He was surprised to find the shy boy suddenly in his arms, kissing him back with astonishing fervour.

"Mmm," Ryousuke licked his lips as he set Takumi steadily onto his own two feet. "Not that I didn't enjoy it, but I have to go," he said ruefully. "Residency sucks."

Takumi nodded.

"I get off early today though, so… How do you feel about going on a date with me?" Ryousuke asked, arms still looped loosely around Takumi's waist.

Takumi nodded enthusiastically. "I'd love to!"

"Okay. I'll call you when I get off," and with that, Ryousuke left to rejoin his group. But not before he managed to cop a good feel.

Takumi smiled brightly as he fairly skipped out of the emergency room… and smack into his father.

"What's wrong with you? You look like the cat that got in the cream…" Bunta looked (AN-okay…squinted) suspiciously at his son.

Takumi suddenly had a hentai thought. "Maybe later, dad… Maybe later…"
