My Idol

"Wow!" Itsuki exclaimed, bouncing about on the balls of his feet, head whipping about in his excitement. "There's an Integra… and an S2000! And look over there! A Z3 convertible!"

Takumi shook his head. To him, they were just cars. Sure, some looked nicer than others, but, well… He shrugged.

"Arg! Takumi!!!" Itsuki whacked his best friend upside the head. "You just don't know how to appreciate a good car!" And with that said, he stalked off into the night to ogle the other cars parked in the gallery at the bottom of the hill.

Takumi shrugged again, mildly confused by the whole situation.

"Hey," a husky voice whispered in his ear.

Takumi jumped, startled out of his reverie. "Aa, Ryoupon. The RedSuns have arrived?" he finally managed to say.

Ryousuke kissed his little boyfriend on the cheek before nodding an affirmative, smiling at the use of his pet name. He turned and gestured out into the gloom, meaning to elaborate on the arrival of his team.

Suddenly, a terrible squeal of tires drew everyone's attention to the road.

A bright orange car had skidded to a stop in the middle of the road, illuminating a stunned Itsuki in its headlights like a rabbit.

"Hey! Are you stupid?" Kenta stuck his head out the window to yell at the obstacle in his path.

Itsuki blinked.

"Oh wow! You have such awesome control! If it had been me, I wouldn't have been able to stop!" Itsuki gushed as Takumi forcibly dragged him off the road and over to the gallery.

Kenta shook his head in exasperation and pulled in behind Keisuke's beloved yellow FD. After walking around his car checking for visible damage, the S14 driver walked over to stand by his illustrious teammates.

"Hi!" he chirped.

Keisuke looked down at him and smiled indulgently (like you'd smile at an errant child… or dog…). "Nice save."

Kenta lowered his eyes and blushed.

"Yah! That was totally awesome of you! I'm so sorry; I didn't think to check for cars!" Itsuki had run over to Kenta's side, apologizing loudly and profusely, clutching the driver's arm in the process.

"Uh…" Kenta stammered. "K… Keisuke…?" He pulled free of Itsuki and edged closer to his idol.

Keisuke, in turn, edged closer to his older brother. "Aniki, um… This is getting creepy…"

Itsuki sidled up to Kenta again, looking at him with big heart-eyes. "Oh look, Kenta, it's starting to rain! You *have* to show me how you learned to drift! I'm poor too! I can't afford new tires every other day, either! You're so smart to have thought of using the rain to your advantage!"

Kenta's mouth opened and closed soundlessly.

"You look like a fish," Keisuke snickered.

"Well, Kenta? Don't be rude; answer the boy," Ryousuke prodded, arm slung possessively around Takumi's waist.

Itsuki shimmered, his eyes sparkling. Takumi leaned into Ryousuke's caress and stared at his friend in shock.

"Kenta?" Itsuki tilted his head inquisitively.

"Uh… Sure… If you want… Um… D'ya want to…uh…take a ride uphill…now?" Kenta stuttered nervously.

"*Would* I?!?! Wow! That'd be great!" Itsuki jumped up and down, clapping his hands with glee.

"Um, c'mon then," Kenta turned back to the bright orange Silvia. "The course will be clear for about another half hour before the race starts."

And off the Crayola orange car went.

Keisuke stared after it for a second, blinking away the afterimage.

"Psst! What're you waiting for?? Let's go!" Ryousuke hissed at his brother, arm tightening around his boyfriend.

Grinning maniacally Keisuke lost no time climbing into his FD and speeding off in the opposite direction Kenta had taken. Ryousuke pushed Takumi into his FC and followed the splash of yellow that was his brother.

~ 1 week later ~

At the top of Akagi Mountain, the Redsuns sat, staring in open-mouthed astonishment, as an 85 Levin careened around the last corner, pulling to a stop right behind a certain orange Silvia.

"Kenta!" Itsuki trilled. "Kenta! I know you're here! I've been watching the weather reports *all* week and when I heard there was going to be rain tonight I rushed right over! Kenta?" Itsuki's voice trailed off as he realized that all eyes were on him.

Kenta, who had been sticking to Keisuke all week (so much so that the younger Takahashi was considering surgical removal), retreated behind the tall, broad-shouldered body. Ryousuke chuckled and gently nudged Kenta into Itsuki's line of sight.

"Kenta!" Itsuki glomped the object of his fascination.

The already pale boy paled even further. "K… Keisuke…" he pleaded.

Keisuke raised an eyebrow, a smile tugging at his lips. "Hn… If you promised, you're gonna have to back it up, Kenta. Don't let it be said that the RedSuns are liars…" The last sentence was growled ominously.

Kenta 'eeped' and stumbled back, away from Keisuke's glowering expression. "Hai, Keisuke…" he snapped off smartly (and would have saluted had Itsuki not been glomping him). "But you have to promise not to run out on me again!" He pouted, looking up at the Takahashi brothers reproachfully.

"Hn," Ryousuke made a vague 'shooing' gesture with his hands.

And the Crayola orange car zipped off into the rain.

Keisuke stared after it, blinking. "So… Aniki…"

Ryousuke grinned. Tapping his younger brother's shoulder, he jerked his head towards their cars.

"But didn't you just promise Kenta? You gonna make liars of the Redsuns?" Keisuke asked, his innocent tone belied by the evil glint in his eye.

"I promised we wouldn't run out on him… Didn't say anything about driving…"

So with a short bark of laughter, the two RX-7s peeled out of the gallery.
